Top 10 Reasons Why Kenny Smith is Dead Wrong

Kenny Smith thinks the Spurs are going to win the Western Conference Semi-finals in a dramatic, seven-game fashion. I call BS (borderline stupidity). Here are TEN reason’s why:
10. With the stunt that the Suns pulled on Wednesday night, wearing their “Los Suns” jerseys to protest the SC 1070 Immigration Bill of Arizona, they now have the whole country rooting them on. Now they have gotten national attention for the move and everyone wants to see David take out Goliath.
9. Suns have Channing Frye. Anyone who is not a Suns (or basketball) fan probably doesn’t know who Frye is. The only other famous Channing is Oscar- Razzie-worthy, Hollywood actor, Channing Tatum (his performance in G.I Joe = Simply amazing). For those who don’t know Frye, he is, in my opinion, the X-factor for the Phoenix Suns. He is an Arizona basketball icon, graduating from the local St. Mary’s High School and, later, the University of Arizona. Previously, the Suns did not have an answer to Duncan and whoever else the Spurs put down low. Now, they still don’t, but Frye is a big presence who can shoot from outside, forcing Duncan to play the perimeter and opening up the paint for Amar’e. Game over.
8. The Suns have that chip on their shoulder. Losing the last four playoff series can’t feel good. Nash’s performance thus far proves that: they are in it to win it…and if they lose? What else is new.
7. The Suns are the underdogs. Ever notice that the team that is over-hyped always lose (Suns 2006, Colts, 2010, Patriots 2008, etc. etc. etc.) and the sleeper seems to figure out a way to take the cheese (Marlins 2003, NY Giants, 2008, Red Sox 2004)? Well the underdog has an advantage, especially when the dog has been kicked and beaten so many times it now bites at anything that comes near it. The Suns are that dog.
6. Alvin Gentry is coaching. No more curse of the D’Antoni. Gentry was a former assistant to Gregg Popovich and knows all his evil plans.
5. The Suns bench is SO much better. Kenny Smith seems to think that the Suns bench is worse than years past. That’s interesting because back in those days the “analysts” claimed that the Suns had no bench. I tend to agree. With Big Lou, Dudley, Frye, Barbosa, and even Collins, the Suns are much deeper, more versatile, and more talented than they were before.
4. Defense wins championships. One thing that can’t be denied is the Suns defense is far and away better than before. Luckily, the offense is just as good.
3. The Spurs are old, tired, and beat up. When I think Spurs, I think of the main three guys: Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker. It’s been that way for centuries now, and there comes a point when the young(er) out last the old. Duncan’s not true to his prime, Ginobili has a broken nose and looks ridiculous with that bandage draped all over his face – which has to affect his confidence and morale, knowing that the world is staring directly at his nose every time he has the ball – and Tony Parker is now married to Eva Longoria, arguably the most attractive women on television, which has to contribute to some element of fatigue (for whatever reason).
2. The Spurs are overrated. There are a lot of overrated teams in the playoffs right now. First round match-ups don’t decide championships. The Spurs defeat of the Dallas Mavericks was impressive only because of the seeding. Everyone knows that the Mavs choke in the first round. (What happened a couple years ago when they were top-seeded and lost to #8 Golden State?) Plus, the Mavs play similar to the Spurs style, so San Antonio was not out of their element. Not so with the Suns.
1. The Suns are now up 2-0, if they can’t pull it off then they should be sent to Europe. It’s been statistically proven that about 95% of the teams who win the first two games in a best-of-seven series go on to win the series. If the Suns lose with those kinds of odds, then they have a major problem.
Oh my Gosh! I killed Kenny!…well his prediction that is. Suns in 5.
